By Coach Damon on February 19, 2018
Hi Lax Goalie Rats! Today I wanted to share with you a curated collection of lacrosse goalie podcasts that focus on our favorite position.
These interviews are with current professional goalies, lacrosse goalie coaches, and heck, even with me!
If you’re like me, you enjoy listening to lacrosse goalies talk shop. So if you’re looking for some podcast episodes that focus on goalies, look no further!
The Lax Goalie Rat Podcast
In between the time I originally wrote this post and now, I’ve launched my own lacrosse goalie podcast.
That show is 100% dedicated to lacrosse goalies and so far I’ve interviewed some pretty spectacular goalies. These guys drop some serious tips during our chats and they’re all worth a listen.
The Lax Goalie Rat podcast has been a lot of fun and something I hope to continue making in the future. Again check out all LGR Podcast episodes here.
The Fred Opie Show
Host Dr. Fred Opie is a former Syracuse University and US National Team Athlete, Author, and Babson College Professor. His podcast is about lacrosse and also about life.
Dr. Opie has had several goalies on his program:
Trevor Tierney Podcast
I’ve written about Trevor Tierney plenty of times on this blog so I think he needs no introduction. In this program Dr. Opie goes through Tierney high school, college, and professional journey as well as his journey into coaching and researching athletes.
Devon Wills Podcast
Devon Wills is probably the best female goalie in the history of the game. She actually tried out for the men’s New York Lizards professional team. She’s currently the coach of the USC Trojan female lacrosse team. I broke down some of her play in this lacrosse goalie video analysis.
Larry Quinn Podcast
Quinn was the goalie for Johns Hopkins University from 1982 to 1985 back when STX Goalmasters and bucket helmets ruled the scene. He led Hopkins to the national championship game every single year of his collegiate career! They won the championship in 1984 and 1985.
The Winning Youth Coaching Podcast
Craig Haworth believes that coaches can change the self-esteem and future of the young people we coach. His podcast is mostly dedicated to helping coaches but since he’s involved with lacrosse coaching himself he’s had several lacrosse goalies on his program.
Coach Damon Wilson
Not sure who this guy is this but daaayum does he drop some sweet goalie knowledge.
Haha just kidding. I was a guest on Craig’s show. My first time being on a podcast and it was a lot of fun.
Christian Buck has been featured on the Lax Goalie Rat blog several times including this post on mental toughness based on his great book Thinking Inside the Crease.
He very knowledgable about the game and provides some great mental tips in this podcast.
Inside Lacrosse Podcast
Kyle Devitte hosts the Inside Lacrosse Podcast which discusses all things lacrosse. They do a lot of MLL and college recaps and they’ve had a few goalies on the program including:
Austin Kaut is currently the starting goalie for MLL’s Florida Launch.
Fast forward to minute 48 to listen to Kaut speak.
Lacrosse Podcasts by LaxAllStars
Another podcast dedicated to lacrosse which has brought on goalies as guests from time to time.
Everyone’s favorite goalie on social media Scotty Rodgers needs little introduction. Here is his podcast:
Podcast with Scott Rodgers
Coach Jonathan Edwards has produced a ton of podcasts all dedicated to various aspects of the lacrosse goalie position. These are definitely worth checking out.
