For being a conference with smaller schools, the MAAC certainly has some premier goalie talent.
The guest of this week’s podcast is Manhattan goalie and Long Island native Brendan Krebs.
When Paul Carcaterra’s big board of PLL draft picks 1st came out there sat the Jespers goalie at number 15:
Listen to Kreb’s story of growing up on Long Island, training with Tim O’Meara and Breakout Goaltending, learning from Coach Jack Runkel, playing at Chaminade, landing at Manhatthan, and then perhaps one day playing professionally.
High school lacrosse at Chaminade is an elite program. You play everyday with some of the best kids in the country who go on to fill out the roster of Division 1 programs.
But guess how many varsity starts Brendan Krebs got in 4 years of high school lacrosse? Answer: 0.
Didn’t matter to this baller. He kept his head down and continued to get better and now could easily be in the PLL. Awesome story that we go into during this chat.
As Krebs returns to Manhattan for his 5th and final season of college he sits down with Coach Damon talk all things lacrosse goalie.
Krebs is a three-year starter for the Jaspers and put together the best season of his career in 2021, being named the MAAC Co-Defensive Player of The Year after a year in which he made 126 saves with a .565% save percentage. Krebs Ranked third in the MAAC and ninth nationally with a 9.36 GAA while also being fourth in the conference and 12th nationally with a .565 save percentage and 12.60 saves per game.
