Building Brick Walls and Swagger with Fin Landi – Episode 284

Today on the show, I’m fired up to chat with Fin Landi, goalie for Columbia College and founder of Brick Wall Goalie Company. Fin’s lacrosse journey has been a rollercoaster. from standout player to insightful coach, and now back to the crease with a new mindset and purpose.

Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Fin’s time coaching at South Carolina completely changed how he saw the game. Coaching made him “way more cerebral,” forcing him to break everything down, from arc play to the mental side of goaltending. Working with both college athletes and first-time goalies, Fin learned that simplicity and communication are everything. “You’ve got to overcommunicate,” he says. “At a young age, the goalie is the only one talking, so you have to learn how to talk through the whole play.”

When it came time to get back on the field, Fin knew it wasn’t just about playing, it was about growth. His connection with Coach Tom Kenny, a former travel coach from his Red Devil United days, helped him land at Columbia College as part of their first-ever men’s lacrosse program. Balancing his master’s in education with early morning 5:30 a.m. practices, Fin embraces leadership through energy and example. “I’m still learning to be a player again,” he says. “But the best way I can lead right now is by showing up every day and giving my best.”

Fin’s also been sharpening his game off the field. After realizing the importance of the clear game — something he admits he once undervalued — he went back to work, literally throwing at a bucket in a field until his passing was second nature. That grinder mentality extends to everything he does, including his work with Brick Wall Goaltending, his training brand based in the Southeast. Through in-person sessions, clinics, and creative Instagram content, Fin’s helping goalies across the region “bring the goalie community together.”

His advice for young goalies? Straight from his dad, “Play with swagger.”

Hope you enjoy this episode with Fin Landi!
