Laughs, Socks, and Saves—Bringing Fun to the Crease with Lindsay Stubenvoll – Episode 262

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

Lacrosse goalie Lindsay Stubenvoll plays the goalie position her own way—full of energy, confidence, and fun. The junior from Fayetteville, North Carolina, is committed to Columbia College in South Carolina, and in this episode, she shares what makes her approach to the game so unique.

Drawn to the adrenaline and freedom of being in the cage, Stubenvoll embraces both the physical and mental challenges of the position. As a smaller goalie, she’s had to adjust her game, developing a wide stance and quick reactions to make up for her size. She offers advice for other goalies in similar situations, emphasizing the importance of strong positioning and smart decision-making.

But for Stubenvoll, mindset is everything. She keeps things light in goal, making her teammates and even opponents laugh, rocking silly socks, and sometimes even singing in the crease. Her ability to stay loose and have fun helps her handle the pressure that comes with being the last line of defense.

She credits her strong support system, especially her brother, for helping her through the ups and downs of the sport. Her faith is also a major influence—not only in how she plays but in big decisions like her recruiting journey. Originally committed to Warner, she felt called to switch to Columbia College, a decision she discusses in detail. She also shares insights into the recruiting process, offering tips on navigating recruiting sites and standing out to coaches.

When it comes to directing her defense, Stubenvoll stresses the importance of staying calm and watching tone of voice. She knows that how a goalie communicates can set the tone for the entire unit.

Lindsay Stubenvoll brings passion, personality, and perspective to the position, proving that goalies don’t just have to be tough—they can have fun doing it.
