Crease Coach National Director Tyler Schweickert on Next Shot Mentality – LGR Episode 173

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, I sit down to chat with National Director of Crease Coach and former Concordia University Irvine goalie, Tyler Schweickert.

Tyler is coming off a successful college career with the CUI Golden Eagles of the MCLA. In 2022 he was named Conference Goalie of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference accolades in the Southwest Lacrosse Conference (SLC) of the MCLA.

The native of Tustin, CA got his start playing lacrosse in the Orange Country area of LA, a part of the country that has experienced massive growth in the game of lacrosse recently.

Tyler played his high school ball at Beckman HS where he was named 3x PCL Goalie of the Year and won 4 PCL Champions during his time there.

As he become a sophomore at Beckman, Tyler began to realize that he would have the opportunity to play lacrosse at the next level and found that opportunity at the powerhouse lacrosse program Limestone College.

The ability to play for an elite-level college program as well as getting to live in the southeast of the US really drew Schweickert to Limestone.

However, after suffering some major injuries during his first year at Limestone, Tyler found another opportunity close to home, 2o minutes away to be exact, with the Golden Eagles and Concordia University Irvine.

Now that he’s finished with his playing career, Schweickert is pursuing a new path in the form of coaching.

He is the National Director of Crease Coach, a goalie school on the west coast, that has developed a number of goalies in the western US.

Tyler has played a significant role in the expansion of Crease Coach into new areas of the country such as Utah and Seattle.

Tyler also presented at the Goalie Summit 4 with Crease Coach!

Tyler also serves as an assistant coach at his alma mater as well as the goalie coach for Mater Dei Lacrosse.

Tyler joins the show today to talk about drills to improve your goalie game, playing in the MCLA, the next shot mentality, and much more!
