Chatting Lacrosse Goalie with Princeton Starter Erik Peters – LGR Episode 150

Last Saturday Princeton’s men lacrosse team knocked off Boston to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2022 NCAA tournament.
It was the program’s 1st NCAA tournament win since 2009 and like those historic Tiger teams of year’s past, they did it with defense including a big game from the guest of this week’s podcast, Senior goalie Erik Peters.
During the 2022 season, his first season in 2 years due to Covid, Peters had a 11.39 goals-against average (32nd in NCAA) and .553 save percentage (12th in the NCAA).
I spoke with Erik a few weeks back for this podcast right after he was coming off an amazing performance in the Meistrell Cup against Rutgers. He set his career high with 21 saves that night and helped his team beat the #3 for the 2nd consecutive week! Shortly thereafter he was added to the Tewaaraton watch list!
Peters joins the show to discuss his lacrosse goalie journey. A journey that starts in Fort Collins, Colorado! Interestingly enough Peters was right ahead of Lax Goalie Rat sponsored athlete and Denver goalie Jack Thompson.
His approach to this position both physically and mentally. Also how we handled nearly two full season without lacrosse.
