Kylee Russell on Important Tips for Starting Out as a Goalie – LGR Podcast 219

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

On today’s episode of the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast, I’m joined by high school sophomore goalie from out of Florida Kylee Russell.

We first saw Kylee in the Lacrosse Goalie Summit 10 where she helped Coach Sash demo some lacrosse goalie drills during his presentation.

The native of Sanford, FL is coming off a great start to her high school lacrosse career where she was voted Seminole Athletic Conference All-Conference 1st Team goalie making 111 saves in her first season between the pipes at Lake Mary High School.

Kylee got her start in lacrosse as a midfielder and defender but at her team’s last practice before their final game, she jumped at the opportunity to hop in the cage after the team goalie was not able to play.

She was instantly hooked after having a great first game.

Kylee loves the ability to help her teams to win games. When teams are matched skills-wise a lot of the difference comes down to the goalie so the ability to stop the top shooters in the league is something that she really loves doing.

Her parents then bought her some gear the following Christmas and she’s been a goalie ever since.

No heading into her sophomore year Kylee is focused on preparing for another big year and has been training with friends of the show like Coach Sash and the team at Goaliesmith attending a camp in Maryland this past summer.

I hope you enjoy this episode with Kylee Russell where we discuss topics like the mental game, drills for new goalies, leadership advice, and much more!
