Ohio State goalie Skylar Wahlund on Using Competence to Build your Confidence – LGR 180

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, I sit down to chat with starting goalie for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Skylar Wahlund.
Skylar is heading into his 5th and final season with the Buckeyes this year coming off of a strong campaign in 2022.
After taking over the starting position halfway through the season, Wahlund started the final 9 games for OSU and finished with a .532 save % and a 12:33 GAA and helped lead the Buckeyes to the Big Ten semi-finals and a birth in the NCAA tournament.
Wahlund was named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team and even took home Big Ten Specialist of the Week Honors after an 11-save performance agent Penn State while only allowing 9 goals.

The native of Powell, OH got his start in the cage after his coach thought his experience as a defenseman in hockey would make him tough enough to handle the position. He was right as being a goalie came naturally to Wahlund.
He played his club ball with Resolute Lacrosse and credits a lot of his development as a goalie to his club goalie coach Stephen Schroeder along with OSU goalie Alum Scott Spencer.
Skylar also had a solid high school career at Olentangy Liberty. He was named Ohio’s Goalie of the Year and a US Lacrosse All-American in his season before joining the Buckeyes
