All goalies dream of making that walk off save to win one for your team.
For Duke goalie Sophia LeRose, she got to live that dream against Maryland in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA national championship tournament.
With her team up by 1 and just seconds left on the clock, Maryland attacker ripped one for the corner. It was the type of shot you see all over offensive oriented Instagram accounts as it was destined to absolutely blow up the top right corner.
But Sofia LeRose exploded to the shot, made the save, and sent her Duke Blue Devils to the next round of the tournament. Wow.
Sofia joins the podcast to discuss her upbringing in California and how she ended up in the south playing lacrosse for the Duke women’s team.
Like my previous podcast guest Emily Sterling, Sofia has gone through some injuries and we discuss her recovery process both physical and mental.
The season wasn’t all smooth sailing for LeRose and we dig into how she overcomes the eventual slumps that all lacrosse goalies face.
Awesome episode with this rising Senior goalie Sophia LeRose.
Lacrosse is my passion! The game has given me so much and this blog is my way of giving back to the lax community. Specifically the most bad a$$ part of that community - the goalies! After learning to play goalie from scratch, I wanted to create a site where I could share what I learned with others so they too can become champions in the crease and in life. Learn more about Coach Damon.
