Youth Goalie Troy Conte on having big aspirations – LGR Episode 182

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, I sit down to chat with youth lacrosse goalie Troy Conte.

Troy is from my hometown in Santa Rosa, CA, and is currently playing lacrosse with the California 101 club team in the Bay Area.

I first met Troy this past summer at the goalie clinic I ran in Petaluma, CA.

Troy got his start in the cage at 7 years old, when he stepped up for his team to hop in the net as the team had no goalie.

He was a big fan of hockey goalies growing up as he liked that they got to wear the extra gear and decided to give it a go in lacrosse

Once he adjusted to getting hit by the ball and added some extra padding on for protection Conte fell in love with the position and now is aspiring to do big things in lacrosse like playing at a D1 school in the NCAA and maybe one day be a PLL goalie like his favorites  Tim Troutner and Sean Sconone.

Troy learned the position from watching Youtube Videos with his dad and emulating what he saw on the screen to help him become a better goalie. Hopefully, there were some Lax Goalie Rat Save Edits on his playlist 😉

Conte is currently playing for the u14 Rancho Cotate Cougars club team as well as 101 Lax. His claim to fame in his young lacrosse career is posting a shutout this past summer playing club ball with the Cougars.

It was a blast getting to meet Troy and I enjoyed getting to work with him at the Lax Goalie Rat Clinic this past summer.

I hope you enjoy this podcast with Troy Conte.

Troy joins the show today to discuss getting used to being hit by the ball, the Reset Routine, his college lacrosse aspirations, and much more!
