Ohio State Commit Caleb Fyock on Making it to a D1 Program – LGR Episode 165

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, Coach Damon sits down to chat with Ohio State commit and one of the top-ranked goalies in the class of 2023 – Caleb Fyock aka Big Tasty Hawk.
Caleb Fyock certainly lives up to this nickname. The massive goalie out of Bowie, Md. fills up the cage with his 6’2” 270 lbs. frame.
But just because he’s big doesn’t mean that Fyock isn’t athletic. He brings a rare combination of size, speed, and athleticism to his game with his lighting-quick hands and fast feet.
Fyock is also known for his ability to clear the ball. You can watch his film and see him routinely dropping dimes on a rope to his clearing teammates.
This is something that Caleb credits his dad, who also serves as his high school goalie coach.
During the podcast, he talks about how his dad preached the importance of making great passes to help lead transition for his team.
Goaltending is certainly a family affair in the Fyock household as not only is Caleb’s Dad a goalie coach, but Fyock’s older brother, Aleric, is currently the starting netminder for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Caleb is currently playing his high school ball at St. John’s High School in St. John’s, D.C, where he helped lead the team to the WCAC Championship this past season capping off an undefeated season for the Cadets.
This outstanding year helped earn Fyock the honor of being named a USA Lacrosse All-American in 2022.
Caleb is also currently ranked #14 in the class of 2023 and #2 on Inside Lacrosse’s rankings.
While there’s certainly a ton of hype surrounding the rising star, Fyock isn’t focused on rankings and is instead setting his sights on what he can do to earn the starting role at Ohio State when he arrives on campus.
