Yale’s Champion Goalie Jack Starr – Lax Goalie Rat Podcast – Episode 10

Anyone who watched the 2018 Men’s D1 National Championship tournament will know my next guest – it’s Jack Starr, freshman sensation from Yale.

It’s quite a big feat for a team to win a championship with a freshman goalie and Jack and I discuss how he handles nerves for big games.

While many past guests have been professional goalies, Jack is just going into his sophomore year at Yale so this offers a new perspective.

We discuss topics like leadership, his recruiting process with Yale and what are some of the main differences between college and high school lacrosse.

We also discuss his training to become a great goalie – both in-season and off-season.

Being a goalie parent is harder than playing the position. That’s why I created the Lacrosse Goalie Super Mom/Dad course — designed for parents with zero lacrosse experience who still want to support their goalie. You’ll learn how to train them (yes, really), but more importantly, how to guide them through the emotional highs and lows of the game.

Promote your brand, product, or service by sponsoring the Lax Goalie Rat newsletter. It's the easiest way to get noticed by a passionate and highly targeted community of lacrosse goalies and coaches.

One of my favorite college goalies, I’m having trouble with confidence, I put in the hours during practice and when no it in a game I have all the confidence. But for some reason my brain says,” don’t mess it cause everyone’s watching and you’ll look like an idiot” my d man would tell us our rules which were fuck shit up and stop the offense which would calm me down, when he wasn’t starting I sucked until he was subbed in
