Introducing the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast
I personally love podcasts. There are quite a few that I subscribe to and consume while at the gym or in the car. Everything from sports to business to comedy.
I’ve even been a guest on several podcasts myself which were a lot of fun.
Starting a podcast is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now.
I love talking about my passion – lacrosse goalies. I’ve interviewed goalies before for particular posts and I think lacrosse goalies share a special bond that makes the conversations easy and fun.
So today I’d like to officially announce the birth of the Lax Goalie Rat podcast!
I’m going to do one season of 10 episodes. Pretty simple – If you like it and I get positive feedback, I’ll do more. Otherwise, I won’t.
I’ve never done any radio or podcasting work before so like a brand new goalie we’re going to have to work through the initial ‘nervous and scared of the ball’ phase of my podcast.
But like I coach all my goalies, you put in the hard work and the confidence comes with experience.
Where to Listen
You can subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts:
Each episode will also be posted to the blog:
You can check out all available podcasts on the Lax Goalie Rat podcast page.
Goals of the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast
My goal with the Lax Goalie Rat podcast is the same goal as the Lax Goalie Rat site – just a different medium.
That goal, which is stated on my homepage, is to –
Educate lacrosse goalies, coaches, and parents on how to transform a beginner into a dominate lacrosse goalie and a leader in the crease and in life.
The idea behind the show is to interview a broad range of guests that are related to the lacrosse goalie position.
So far I’m thinking:
- Lacrosse Goalies – All Levels: Pro, College, High School (both male and female)
- Lacrosse Goalie Coaches -Pro, College, High School (both male and female)
- Lacrosse Head Coaches – Pro, College, High School (both male and female)
Getting podcast guests might be my biggest challenge. So if you have ideas, let me know.
If you want to be a guest on the show, please email me at [email protected] with a subject of “Podcast Guest” and include a little background of why you’d be a great guest.
Same goes if you know a goalie or coach who would be a great fit for the show and can make an introduction.
As I mentioned in the intro, I’m obviously new to podcasting so if any of you experienced podcasters has tips for me, please leave a comment or send me a direct email.
New Medium of Content
When the blog first started in 2015 my only form of content was the written word. I’d sprinkle some images, GIF’s, and videos into the posts but I was primarily getting my points across with text.
In April of this year, I launched the LGR lacrosse goalie camp and ventured into the pure video medium. Some concepts regarding this position are best demonstrated via video and that course provides over 80 of them, perfectly organized, to really give you the step-by-step instruction on how to develop world-class goalies.
With the podcast, we’re venturing into a new medium of content. There is definitely something unique about 30-45 minute conversation that you just can’t get out of a blog post.
You can hear the goalies passion. You hear the tone to know which parts are important.
It’s totally unscripted too so you never know what’s going to happen.
Can I Ask a Favor?
Please forward this show to any goalie, goalie coach, or goalie parent that you know. The more goalie’s ears we get the more these great goalie education bombs can be spread.
Also, please leave an honest review on iTunes or wherever you listen.
It really helps others find the show!
Conclusion
The Lax Goalie Rat podcast is here!
I’m launching with 3 episodes and will continue adding more until we complete season 1 of 10 episodes.
Let me know what you think about the show. If it gets good feedback I’ll keep doing it. Otherwise, we’ll consider it a learning experience and move on.
Until next time! Coach Damon
