Loving the Goalie Position with St. Leo Goalie Jessica Harclerode – Episode 234

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

She was in 2nd grade playing PAL lacrosse on Long Island (Sayville, NY). The team’s goalie got hurt and Jessica Harclerode stepped up in the 2nd half.

“I can’t run. So I’m going in that net I thought. And I tore it up. I had like 6 saves in the first game. I was hyped up and ever since that I was in love with the goalie position”, said Jessica.

Even though Jessica had just received a custom field player stick right before that game, her initial dominance in the goal perhaps combined with the no running element of goalie was enough to hook her for life.

Jessica joins the podcast to discuss her development as a lacrosse goalie and the lessons she has learned along the way.

We touch on her recruiting journey which ended with her committing to the D2 school St. Leo.

Freshman year she earned the starting role, was named Sunshine State Conference freshman of the year and set the school’s single season record for saves. Not too bad.

Coming into her sophomore year the team named her a captain and we discuss what leadership means and how she can best be a captain in just her 2nd year on the team.

You will definitely feel Jessica’s passion for the sport of the lacrosse and the position of goalie!
