Athletes Unlimited Goalie and Michigan Alum Mira Shane – LGR Episode 139

In this week’s episode of the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast, Coach Damon sits down to chat with Athletes Unlimited goalie and former Michigan great Mira Shane.
Shane is known for the energy and enthusiasm she brings on and off the field. Her excitement is infectious – whether it be making jaw dropping spilt saves or busting out some dance moves of the field Shane always seems to be having fun and enjoying lacrosse and life.
Shane played her college ball at Michigan Univervisy. The Princeton, NJ native finished her time at Michigan as the winningest goalie in program history with 24 career victories, career saves leader with 360 career saves, and career saves percentage leader with a .451 save percentage.
In her first season in Athletes Unlimited, Shane finished 44th in the AU standings with 34 saves and a .410 save percentage in 14 games played.
On top of being a professional athlete now with Athletes Unlimited Mira also spends her time coaching. Last season she served time as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma-mater helping coach current Wolverine goalie Arielle Weissman and prior to that was coaching at Harvard University.
Shane now owns her own goalie coaching company Miracle Goaltending and coaches clinics with another goalie great Caylee Waters.
Not only is Mira an excellent lacrosse goalie but she is all a talented DJ, beatboxers and contributes a lot of he time to social justice and mental health initiates.
