A Look Into the World of Vision Training with Josh Tucker- Podcast 256

As a retired hockey goalie, Josh Tucker is now the owner of True Focus Vision, based in Minnesota. Not only does he provide vision therapy to improve reading, but he also works to improve sports performance in a way that isn’t often trained.

Tucker has experience working with everyone from young kids to professional athletes and olympians, working to improve eye stability and health to boost athletic performance.

In this podcast episode, Tucker and I blur the boundaries between hockey and lacrosse, and discuss the similarities and differences in training tactics, as well as vision techniques that lacrosse goalies could pick up.

Tucker discusses the benefits of juggling, as most goalies are trained to do, but also expresses how it should be the minimum, not the threshold of vision training.

Tucker also touches on the biological factors of vision and vision weaknesses, and how they can affect an athlete’s trajectory from a young age. He shares what to look for in behavior to look for deviations from normal vision, as well as vision therapy tests that you could do at home to both test and improve your vision.
