The Future Between the Pipes: Seamus Skelly’s Goalie Journey – Episode 283

Today on the show, I’m fired up to sit down with Seamus Skelly, a young and upcoming goalie out of San Antonio, Texas, from the class of 2030.

Seamus’ path to the crease started back in third grade, when he decided to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, who now plays goalie at Virginia Wesleyan University. Like most goalies early on, he’ll admit he was scared of the ball, ducking out of the way more than making saves, but over time, that fear turned into fuel. Through patience, repetition, and the right coaching, Seamus developed a real passion for the position and for the process of getting better every single day.

What’s most impressive about Seamus is his mindset and discipline at such a young age. He’s been running a “day-to-day” training series on social media, over 60 straight days of drills, workouts, and wall ball. He shows the kind of consistency that usually takes years to build. That work ethic has already caught the attention of college programs like Oregon and Florida, as well as gear companies and creators like ECD Greg, who’ve taken notice of this young goalie’s commitment to the craft.

Seamus trains with Connor Hollison from Adaptive Goaltending, working virtually and in-person to sharpen his reaction time, balance, and hand speed. He’s also using new tools like the Lace Up weighted system to build strength and explosiveness. He is always looking for small ways to get better. Outside of lacrosse, he stays active through soccer and strength training, which he says help his footwork and agility in the cage.

When it comes to idols, Seamus looks up to Liam Entenmann from Notre Dame and the PLL’s Atlas, admiring his calm, athletic style and confidence under pressure. His favorite college team? The Maryland Terrapins.

But what stands out most about Seamus is his attitude. He’s humble, coachable, and loves the challenge of the goalie position: the chaos, the leadership, and the satisfaction of making that big save. His advice for other young goalies is simple: “Don’t get mad when you get scored on. Stay big, stay patient, and keep smiling.”

He may only be in eighth grade, but Seamus Skelly already plays the position with the mindset of a veteran. He’s a perfect example of how passion, consistency, and a willingness to learn can take a young goalie from nervous beginner to confident leader in the cage.

Can’t wait for you all to hear this one, Seamus Skelly, the future between the pipes.
