Mark Lange is a longtime lacrosse coach, multi-sport coach, educator, author, and lacrosse goalie dad with more than 20 years of experience coaching athletes from youth sports through the collegiate level.
Growing up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Lange was a three-sport athlete who fell in love with lacrosse after watching his cousin play, eventually competing at the Division III level at Curry College. He currently coaches at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Over his career, Lange has coached football, hockey, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse across the United States and Canada, including NCAA and Canadian university levels. A teacher by trade, he is known for his emphasis on relationship-building, player development, and using sport as a vehicle for leadership and life lessons rather than short-term wins.
Lange is the author of The Culture Line: Building Future Community Leaders Through Sport, a book designed to help coaches, players, and stakeholders rethink youth and competitive sports culture through principles such as being process-driven, resilient, authentic, accountable, and competitive in the right ways.
Today, he focuses on mentoring coaches, working with youth programs, and advocating for healthier, development-first sports environments that prepare athletes for life beyond the field.
