Nike Huarache 6 Cleat Review
In this post we’ll continue the gear review series with a full review of the new Nike Huarache 6 cleats.
These bad boys are the latest installment in cleats from the Thompson Brothers and Nike.
We’ll be breaking it down, and afterwords hopefully you’ll be able to decide if it’s the lacrosse cleat for your upcoming lax season.
Nike Huarache 6 Sizing
First I must admit I wasn’t exactly the biggest fan of the Nike Huarache V’s.
One of the main reasons was, for me, the fit was a bit too narrow. It became bothersome especially during long runs at practice, or during long durations on the field like tournaments or double days.
However, Nike really did change this issue with the Huarache VI’s. It’s much looser around sides and throughout the laces, making for a much more comfortable fit, especially for us keeps.
It’s also important to note that the Nike Huarache VI’s have a soft cushion around the heel and ankle that makes the cleat easy to slide into and lace up.
For me personally, the fit is 10x better than last year’s edition, but has an almost wide feeling around the sides, that can feel a bit too big.
I think the fit is great, they just haven’t exactly perfected it quite yet, but overall, a much higher improvement than last year.
Note to self: Take pictures of white cleats for blog post before playing in them on a muddy field.
Nike Huarache 6 Comfort
Personally, these cleats feel great to run, make cuts, and step to shots in.
They’re incredibly soft and again, have made great improvements from last year.
My foot was able to breathe well and with that, allowed me to comfortably step around at shots with ease.
Also, a quick side note to add, these cleats handle shots amazingly. I’ve taken several rips that ended up being kick saves, and I felt absolutely nothing!
I have yet to have any blisters or anything of the sort from wearing them, and that includes hours upon hours currently of running, sprinting, ladder and cone drills, live shots, and 6v6’s.
They’ve held up well on the comfort end of things and I can’t find any complaints in this department.
Nike Huarache 6 Movement
Probably the most important section in this Huarache VI review, how well can you maneuver in them?
Well, I find the cleat itself very reliable on making cuts, and cutting off the angle of shots is a smooth transition in the huarache VI’s.
The cleat does attract mud pretty easily however due to the design, so make sure you take that into consideration and just know if you’re playing on a muddy field, you may have to clack them against the post a few times to knock it off.
Personally, I see the cleats working extremely well on turf and thin-grass fields, but if you primarily play in thicker grass, it may become a staggering issue.
However, that’s not the case for me personally, so I thought the movement was great.
When stepping to shots, I noticed I had an extra sense of stability and balance, feeling like the cleat almost kept me square to the shot, not allowing for the typical “lean” we do when stepping towards shots.
Nike Huarache 6 Support
The ankle and foot stability on these cleats could possibly be their best feature.
With someone who’s had years of ankle problems, I can say I feel safe in these cleats, no matter what my movement may be, which is something I can’t say for most cleats.
Obviously, one of Nike’s biggest competitor in the lacrosse cleat market is the Under Amour “Highlights” which offer the extreme high top for ultra ankle protection
I think the Huarache VI’s have a serious chance of competition with the Highlights
particularly in this area more than ever before.
The support factor was a drastic change in my opinion and was great decision to make the change to the Nike Huarache 6s.
Nike Huarache 6 Design
I’ve thought the Nike Huarache’s have always looked great, with this year being no
different.
This model of Nike’s comes in an impressive amount of color combinations.

As you can see in the photo I think there’s no doubt the Nike Huarache 6’s look amazing.
The current limited-edition ones as well look incredible and will catch anyone’s eye on the field. It’s hard to believe the Huarache gets better looking with each installment, but thus far, that’s held up to be true.
Besides the looks though, the cleat is built great. Like mentioned previously, it seems like a main focus from Nike this year was improving comfortability, and they did a great job at that.
The tongue sits comfortably as well as lacing up great. In fact, when lacing up, it feels loose as to where you’d expect them to be loose, but in fact, it’s just the cleat being THAT comfortable.
Of course, you can adjust it if you enjoy that tight feeling, but for myself, I enjoyed that breathable feeling I got with these cleats.
Overall, I have hardly any issues with the design, with the only real problem being the wideness on the sides of the cleats. Some in fact may enjoy that, but for me personally, I don’t quite enjoy it. Besides that, however, the design on the huarache VI’s is amazing.
Nike Huarache 6 Price
Last but not least, lets talk about price. These are pretty new cleats, and being such a popular line, its bound to be a bit pricey.

Yes, they are high right now for cleats, however, I’ve found them to be really well constructed with unique design I haven’t found in other cleats.
Is it worth the hefty price tag though?
In my opinion, Nike has done enough here to earn my purchase. The design, stability, and comfortability all blend in together to make the best version of the Huarache yet, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Conclusion
I think a lot of goalies don’t give much thought to the cleats. But when you strap on a well constructed, well designed pair like the Nike Huarache 6’s you really feel the difference.
Your feet and ankles feel locked and movement and exploding to the ball seems easier.
