About Coach Damon
Lacrosse is my passion! The game has given me so much and this blog is my way of giving back to the lax community. Specifically the most bad a$$ part of that community - the goalies! After learning to play goalie from scratch, I wanted to create a site where I could share what I learned with others so they too can become champions in the crease and in life. Learn more about Coach Damon.

Very good podcast! But I also have a question. I’m an 8th-grade goalie and whenever someone takes a shot down low from far away, I sometimes get my body in front but am always late to put my stick down. I don’t get why I keep doing this because I have been playing goalie for almost 6 years now. If you have any tips, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Doi! Whenever a goalie has a problem with technique on a specific type of shot, here’s what I do. Start with 25% speed – 40 shots, 50% speed 40 shots, 75% 40 shots, 100% speed 40 shots. Every save is with perfect technique and by building up the speed you’re training the muscle memory into your body so your hands and body gets to the shot. HOpe that helps!
