Arsen Hanuschak’s path to becoming a standout goalie at the University of Minnesota is anything but typical. Born in Ukraine and introduced to lacrosse after moving to the U.S. at a young age, Arsen didn’t even pick up a stick until U12, and didn’t step into the crease until his team needed a goalie for a tournament. One game was all it took. He never looked back.

Developing his game in a non-traditional lacrosse hotbed like Minnesota, Arsen largely taught himself the position through trial and error, limited coaching resources, and a relentless commitment to improvement. Over time, he built his style by studying top goalies, experimenting with technique, and refining what worked best for him.

Now competing in the MCLA with Minnesota, Arsen represents the growing talent and passion for lacrosse outside the East Coast. Known for his calm, relaxed stance and explosive reactions, he emphasizes mental preparation, consistency, and adaptability as keys to success in the crease.
