By Coach Damon
July 6, 2022

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, Coach Damon sits down to chat with Lehigh women’s lacrosse goalie Hayley Hunt.
Hayley had a phenomenal first season as the starting netminder for the Mountain Hawks in 2022. Hunt led the nation in saves percentage for all Women’s DI goalies (.543 %), the highest by a Patriot League goalkeeper since Megan Orr in 2007, while sitting in second in saves per game in the NCAA (12 per game).
Hunt was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week and IWLCA Co-Defensive Player of the Week following a combined 29 saves and just 10 goals allowed vs. Lafayette and Holy Cross. Included was a career-high 18 stops (just four goals allowed) vs. Holy Cross. Hunt recorded double-digit saves in all but three games this season.
Hunt’s heroics in 2022 landed her on the honorable mentions all-American list for both Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine
The native of Philadelphia, PA started playing her high school lacrosse at William Penn Charter School where she was a three-time Under Armour Underclass All-American, three-time all-league selection, and two-time National Tournament Team member for the Philadelphia region.
Those accolades drew a lot of attention to the young keeper who initially made her commitment to join the Stony Brook Seawolves out of high school.

Hunt saw limited action during her time at Stoney Brook due to a very talented Seawolves goalie room. She Made her first collegiate start at UMBC earning the victory 15-8 victory while making 10 saves in the game
In search of an opportunity to earn a starting role Hunt transferred to Lehigh in 2022 and has found a home in between the pipes for the Mountain Hawks for the foreseeable future.
During high school, Hunt was also a very successful multi-sport athlete. She captained the water polo and basketball teams, earning 14 varsity letters across three sports. Hayley also owns the school’s career goal-scoring record (266) and top-three single-season goal totals in water polo in school history while earning three all-league honors.

Hayley joins the show today to talk about how being a multi-sport athlete made her a better goalie, working with Alex Ready at Lehigh, building her own style, and much more!
