Tips on How to Blossom as a Leader with Jorden Concordia – LGR Episode 203

On today’s episode of the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast, I had the pleasure of chatting a goalie who’s been lighting up the Atlantic 10 this year in Jorden Concordia, the star goalie from St. Joe’s Women’s Lacrosse team.

Jorden is having an amazing season so far, with an 8-7 record, a 10.72 GAA (31st in the nation), and a .465 save percentage (26th in the nation).

Jorden’s standout performance this season has earned her Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week twice, including a 10-save performance in a win over SDSU and a 19-0 shutout against the Patriots.

Jorden’s journey to becoming a standout goalie started in the fourth grade when she turned to her uncle, a goalie coach, to learn the ropes.

Her uncle taught her the importance of the fundamentals of the position, including stepping to the ball, hand-eye coordination, and driving your hands to the ball.

Three of her cousins were goalies too, and Jorden’s interest in the position grew after she was called upon to replace a sick teammate during a club game. She ended up winning player of the game and never looked back.

Growing up in Rochester, NY, Jorden idolized Liz Hogan and would often head to the dome as a kid to watch the Orange play.

She started playing varsity lacrosse in the 8th grade and realized that she could be a college goalie.

Syracuse was a dream school for Jorden, and she committed to them in her junior year of high school.

However, after her freshman year and the challenges posed by the COVID season, Jorden decided that Syracuse wasn’t the right fit for her and entered the transfer portal.

After speaking with St. Joe’s coach Kaheo and visiting the campus, Jorden knew that this was the school for her.

In her first season with the Hawks, Jorden earned the starting position and led them to an Atlantic 10 Championship while being named to the Second Team All-Atlantic 10, Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, and A-10 All-Championship Team.

On the podcast, Jorden also talked about the mental game, the reason behind her transfer to St. Joe’s, and her daily training regimen as a D1 goalie.

She is truly lighting it up, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented goalie.
