UNC Commit Luke Arrighi on Making an Impression in the Recruiting Process – Episode 186

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, I sit down to chat with UNC commit in the class of 2024 Luke Arrighi.

Luke is heading into his junior year of high school as a highly touted prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.

The native of Bronxville, NY was named a 4-star prospect by Inside lacrosse who touted Arrighi for his style in the cage.

“Arrighi was as steady and impressive as any other goalie in the camp, particularly on Day 2 while boosting his team by coming up huge with clutch saves during the playoff round. He’s got great size, technique, and athleticism, does a nice job reading low shots, and eats up takes from longer distances with discipline.”

On September 15, Luke announced his commitment to the University of North Carolina Tarheels.

Arrighi knew once he stepped on campus that he felt at home right at Chapel Hill. The team felt like such a tight-knit group that was working together to achieve a bigger goal both on the field and in the classroom which made it an easy sell for him.

Luke also liked the idea of getting to work with such a highly touted Tar Heels coaching staff with Joe Breschi and David Metzbower along with such an incredible goalie room at UNC led by Collin Krieg.

Arrighi has also had the opportunity to play on the national level and represent team USA. Earlier this fall, Arrighi was a part of the Team USA U16 squad that won the Brogden Cup beating team Canada and Haudenosaunee in the process.

Prior to becoming such a sought-after young talent, Luke was a multi-sport athlete playing hockey, baseball, and lacrosse.

Luke talks about how being a catcher in baseball has helped him greatly as a lacrosse goalie on the show.

Arrighi plays his high school lacrosse for Bronxville High School and is a part of Predators Lacrosse in the Club Scene.

During the show, Luke mentions how integral these two programs have been in his development as a goalie. Especially, being allowed to play up a level at certain times and getting to learn from other future college goalies like James Swartz at Harvard who helped train Luke’s fundamentals and athleticism in the cage.

Luke joins the show today to discuss early lessons in the cage, why he chose UNC, being a leader of your team, and much more!
