On today’s Lax Goalie Rat Podcast episode, Coach Damon sits down to chat with Ohio State women’s goalie Regan Alexander.
Regan is coming off her first season as the starting netminder for the Buckeyes. A successful season for the sophomore out of Orlando, Florida which even saw her pick up Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after she led the Buckeyes to wins over Cincinnati making a career-best 13 saves while only allowing just four goals.
Alexander would finish the 2022 season with a .444 Save % (36th in the nation), 11.44 GAA, and 130 saves on an Ohio State team that would just miss the Big 10 tournament.
Prior to arriving at Ohio State, Regan played her high school lacrosse at Lake Highland Prep School where she was a two-time Florida state champion, an Under Armour All-American (’19 & ’20), and a two-time all-Orlando selection and all-area pick.
In her freshman season, Regan only saw action in two games and spent time learning from 5th-year graduate student Jillian Rizzo. Regan talks about how Rizzo helped her development as a freshman keeper and prepared her to earn the starting role heading into her sophomore season in 2021.
Regan made her first collegiate appearance on February 14 at Northwestern in the season opener, playing in relief of Rizzo. She would then make her first career start against Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament on April 29, notching five saves and picking up two ground balls.
Alexander also has a twin sister Riley who is also a member of the Buckeyes women’s lacrosse team as a defender. Regan talks about her relationship with her sister and how the two have helped each other become the great lacrosse players they are today.
Regan joins the show today to talk about her progression in the goalie, how she went from Florida to Ohio State, why she choose the number 00, and much more!
You’re going to love this episode with Regan she brings a ton of positive energy.
Lacrosse is my passion! The game has given me so much and this blog is my way of giving back to the lax community. Specifically the most bad a$$ part of that community - the goalies! After learning to play goalie from scratch, I wanted to create a site where I could share what I learned with others so they too can become champions in the crease and in life. Learn more about Coach Damon.
