In the 2020 D1 men’s lacrosse season, St. Bonaventure goalie Brett Dobson definitely turned some heads.
He led all goalies in save percentage at 59.9% and his 9.1 goals against average was good for 5th best in the league.
Many are projecting that Brett one day protects the pipes for Team Canada in the World Games. Team Canada coach Randy Mearns also coaches Dobson at St. Bonaventure so he knows exactly what he’s getting with this elite goalie.
Dobson joins the podcast to discuss his upbringing in Canada and mixing field lacrosse with box lacrosse as our neighbors to the north like to do. We also discuss how he lives his life with diabetes and the special considerations he must undergo.
Brett attended the Hill Academy, a prep school in Ontario, Canada with a strong focus on developing athletes.
Dobson certainly was a well developed athlete as he took his save making abilities to St. Bonaventure in upstate New York.
As he prepares to enter his junior season, goalie Brett Dobson is hoping to lead the Bonnies to a MAAC championship.
I also ask the mandatory question – what is a Bonnie?
Lacrosse is my passion! The game has given me so much and this blog is my way of giving back to the lax community. Specifically the most bad a$$ part of that community - the goalies! After learning to play goalie from scratch, I wanted to create a site where I could share what I learned with others so they too can become champions in the crease and in life. Learn more about Coach Damon.
