Long Island University Goalie Will Mark – LGR Episode 109

When the mid-season All-American rankings came out last year, listed at the bottom under Honorable Mention was Will Mark, LIU.

I’ll be honest, up until that point I had never seen Will Mark play. But that put Mark on my goalie radar and I went looking for some NEC games.

After watching Will play, it was true the guy was playing an All-American level goalie. Making the saves he’s supposed to make but then making tons of ridiculous steals too.

He ended the 2021 season averaging 17.5 saves per game! A 17 save game is a pretty damn good and Mark averaged that throughout the year!

Will Mark plays college lacrosse at LIU on Long Island.  But before ending up in that hotbed of lacrosse, Mark got his start in anything but.

He first played lacrosse while living in Germany as an international student and then played high school lacrosse in the Bay Area in Danville, CA. A few hours from my hometown of Santa Rosa, CA.

He eventually attended boarding schools back East where his lacrosse game went to the next level.

Will just finished his Sophomore season at LIU under goalie Coach Jack Runkel and he had an amazing season leading all D1 college lacrosse goalies in saves per game. That included a 30 save performance against Bryant.

He was All-NEC defensive player of the year and an Inside Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention.

Enjoy this interview with a rising goalie who will surely put on a show in 2022.
