Jesse Schwartzman on Becoming an Elite Lacrosse Goalie – LGR Episode #96

Jesse Schwartzman is one of the most accomplished lacrosse goalies out there!

He’s had success at every level – winning a high school state championship, winning a NCAA championship (twice) with Hopkins and then a silver medal with Team USA in 2014.

In this conversation we touch on Jesse’s lacrosse goalie career all the way back from when his brother (Maryland lacrosse alum Andrew) threw him into goal to take shots.

You can’t win a national championship without a great goalie and Schwartzman is a great goalie and he opens up on how he went about his business during his illustrious career.

Jesse is one of only 7 goalies to win multiple Goalie of the Year awards in professional lacrosse. Here is the full list:

Schwartzman also shares some behind the scenes stories of the remarkable 2005 semi-final game against Virginia where he gives up a goal with 12 seconds remaining in the game to go down by 1 goal. Yet Hopkins ends up winning that game.

Show Notes

About ½ way in the show I say I’ll lookup if any team after Hopkins 2005 ran the table – undefeated season + championship. Indeed, Virginia did it the following year in 2006 with Dom Starsia at the helm and Kip Turner in goal.
