Youth Goalie Sawyer Dillion on the Best Ways to Deal with Burnout – LGR Episode 206

This Episode Is Brought To You By:

On today’s episode of the Lax Goalie Rat Podcast, I sit down and chat with Sawyer Dillion, who happens to be from my hometown in Santa Rosa, California.

Truly is a small world, as I discovered that Sawyer’s grandparents live right next door to my parents.

Lacrosse holds a special place in Sawyer’s heart, as it was his first-ever team sport. At the age of 10, he took on the challenge of playing goalie when his team didn’t have one. Recognizing the importance of the position, Sawyer decided to hop in the cage and embrace the role of being the last line of defense.

After his initial year in lacrosse, Sawyer made the decision to join a high-level travel team. It was a trial by fire as he navigated through the early years, learning the ins and outs of playing goalie.

Sawyer sought to further develop his skills by attending camps at my alma mater, Cal, and working with our friends at Goaliesmith.

He’s been a regular attendee at almost every Goaliesmith event on the West Coast and even ventured out to a few on the East Coast.

When it comes to goalie inspiration, Sawyer looks up to Lax Goalie Rat sponsored athlete Will Mark and Notre Dame’s Liam Entenmann. He admires the way they play the game and strives to incorporate their techniques into his own style. By observing these talented goalies, Sawyer continues to refine his skills and enhance his gameplay.

Looking ahead, Sawyer is preparing to embark on his high school journey at Casa Grande in Petaluma, CA. He aims to earn the starting position for his high school team and work his way toward earning an NCAA scholarship to play college lacrosse.

It’s an exciting path that Sawyer envisions for himself, and we’re eager to witness his growth and achievements.

Today, on the Lax Goalie Rat podcast, Sawyer joins me to discuss various topics such as stepping to the ball, the state of lacrosse in California, and the mental game.

It’s a conversation you won’t want to miss, as Sawyer shares his insights and experiences as a young goalie with aspirations for the future.

Stay tuned for an engaging episode, where we delve into the world of lacrosse goalies with Sawyer Dillion, a rising star from Santa Rosa, California.
